Surf cross on Saturday was tightly fought. Points on the Saturday were close putting pressure on the competing crews for a good result on the Sunday. Conditions on Saturday were challenging for the surf cross with the overall winner on the day Doug and Joey. 2nd place went to Shane and Geoff (Ted), 3rd place to Brett and Darren and 4th place to Jay and Nathan. Sunday was a nice fine day with fantastic conditions for the long haul. We required a deep water start due to the in-shore dump - off-shore conditions were 10 knots. Some of the boys took the gamble and pulled out the big props and it paid off for Shane and Geoff (Ted) where once in the lead, were had to catch. Only 200m between first and second place – very tightly decided. Winners for the long haul were Shane and Geoff (Ted) with Brett and Darren in 2nd place and Doug and Joey in 3rd place. Queensland Champions for 2011 after the combined Saturday and Sunday events were Shane and Geoff (Ted) – well done boys! 2nd place went to Doug and Joey with 3rd place to Brett and Darren. Thanks very much to Jay and Nathan who, even though they ceased their motor on the Saturday, stayed positive and continued in the right spirit for the whole weekend assisting wherever they could – well done boys, greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the supporters who made the effort to assist with boat and equipment transfers – again greatly appreciated. It was also good to see some members who weren’t racing to also offer their support and assistance in officiating during the events. All in all, a great weekend as you will see by the photos. Fantastic turnout with 9 boats registered to compete. The whole day went smoothly, but mother nature won out on more than a few occasions. Thanks to the officials and competitors for creating the right atmosphere which in return will make the Brisbane Coast Thundercat Club bigger and better than ever. The 40 spectators appreciated the effort you all put into the event. Thanks again to all that helped - Dennis, Doug, RJ, Kai with his 4WD, Graham and Alan.

Venue: Seaworld Spit Boatramp @ 7.00am. Thanks to the guys who made the effort to attend the first Club meeting for the 2011 season which concluded with a social run around Straddy. At this meeting numerous topics were discussed: - Importance to attend meetings as decisions are made by members present by voting on issues which may affect you. Decisions are made by the members vote, not the Club committee.
No attendance = no vote = no say. - We will attempt to have a meeting/social/race once a month.
- Meeting venue and times – Seaworld Spit Boatramp @ 7.00am.
- Open Day to encourage new members with associated advertising in Gold Coast and Brisbane Newspapers.
