QLD Titles round 2

The weekend was great with 13 boats attending. The A & B Graders

werebattling it out on a 2ft ground swell with glassy conditions

which made these surf battling boats into speed machines, The

engines were screaming to find that top end speed.Even though

the surf was small there was a mean sweep running north which

made starts very difficult. That boats had to be nose into the current

just so you could stand on the spot.

While holding the boats and watching the surfers ride waves through

the arena at the same time was very frustrating and fatigue was

kicking in. The day was successful pumping out 14 racesand the

new stereo system pumping hard.

There were surprisingly 2 flips for the day. Im Too Toe from the

B graders did a spectacular cork screw off a wave side on, along the front straight. Sadly the second flipe goes to Fat Cat, going around a turn can and hitting a massive 1ft chop sending him over.

Image

The out standing flip award goes to Adam and Tim from Im Too Toe Congratulations.

Darren the driver from RP Industries also known as "LOOSE" through

himself out of the boat turning around a turn can..... { HOLD ON DAZZA}

Boats that competed for the day were Crocker Builder, Ducks Nuts,

RP Industries, Im Too Toe, Fat Cat, Carrot Cat, Rampage, TTTC, Goodline Racing,

G E Paint, Blue 104, Neptune Boat and Impact.

Well done to all competitors racing and check QLD results for you points.

National Titles is coming up on the 7th and 8th of June at Kingscliff

so dont miss out. See you all on the water.

Cabarita Beach
The News - Social Information

Tuesday, 29 April 2008

The weather was HOT HOT HOT on the weekend. The surf sure had some power as a solid 3ft waves

were rolling in on the back bank. This was well deserved after the last race day was hell on earth. The

A & B graders had combined into one race heat, this will test there thundercat ability to the extreme and

had proven to be very successful on the skills that they had learnt in such a short peroid of time. Since

all the boats stayed up right for the day, the Out Standing Flip Award could not be handed out....Bummer....

Image

This was our first race day at Cabarita Beach and had a very warm welcome by the Cabarita surf club.

A big thanks goes to the  Eoin for driving the boats up and down the beach. Also providing us

with the BBQ equipment for the Feast after we called it a day. Thankyou you very much.

Image

Dennis co-pilot of Macleods Daughters was the only co-pilot to fallout on the weekend, this was on the

first lap of the first race. Keep it up Dennis...

Nick co-pilot of Carrot Cat, lost his helmet punching through the middle of a green wave. As the boat came

through the wave the helmet went flying up in the air out of control, the boat then went up the next wave

and he managed to catch his helmet in mid flight and he put it back on his head. AMAZING...

Image

Thundercats that attended the day were TTTC, G & E Paint, Fat Cat, RP Industries, Carrot Cat, Im Too Toe,

Blue 104, Macleods Daughters and Crocker Builders. Thanks for attending.

There was no shortage of AIR time as most boat recieved some sort of punishment as the sets were rolling inn.

Near the end of the day, it was decided that it was time for some handy-cap races. We lined the slowest

boat up at pole position and went out to 8th boat being the quickest boat of the day. Each boat had a

seperate starting flag of a handy-cap up to 10 sec delay. This turned out to be a exciting event as most boats

by the 4th and 5th lap were all very close together, it came to the 6th last lap to decide a winner.

QLD Titles Report

The Booming Brisbane Thundercat Club is making a big splash in the water with 13 teams

attending the first round of the QLD State Titles. Eight of the boats challenged for the top

points of the first round of Qld titles, and 5 new teams racing for the first time in the B grade

event.

The weather was very demanding, as there was a strong S/E wind with a 2-2.5m swell rolling

inn. You could almost hear the heart rate of the pilots and co - pilots as they looked into what

would become there play ground of adventure! the surf was sure showing its strength! The

dark clouds moved in quite quickly with the wind with a few small showers sending the score girls

head for cover.

The day began with some warm up laps, once the racers had a feel of the surf they were ready

to roar!  Ducks Nuts was the first boat to stop a race as Sam{co-pilot} showed amazing grace

with his superman fall out of the boat- proving how strong the surf was!

A handful of pilots pushed the limits and flipped their boats, these classic moments were

condenders for the Outstanding Flip Award- A grade boats that flipped were Goodline Racing and

Fat Cat. B Grade- Pie Wagon & I'm too Toe cork screw flip off a wave.

Overall it was a fantastic day of extreme fun, friendship some great racing, the Qld title was a

great learning experience for the new comers to the club, as well as the highly experienced boys.

An unfortunate accident accured in a B grade race where 2 boats, Im Too Toe and Macleods Daughters

were heading along the front straight, Im too toe ran out of water and ran agound,

Macleods Daughters went straight into the back of Im Too Toe. The co-pilot went flying out of

the boat and landed beside the driver in front. Fortunately no injuries occured, Unfortuantely we

cant say the same about the boat, Macleods Daughters left hull was slightly deflated.

Round 1 race results were 1st Tony Total Tree Care, 2nd Fat Cat, 3rd Ducks Nuts, 4th Scardy Cats,

5th G & E Paint, 6th Goodline Racing and 7th to JP Industries. Congratulations to all crews

competing for the day.

B Grade positions for the day were 1st Carrot Cat, 2nd Im Too Toe, 3rd Pie Wagon, 4th Blue 104,

5th Macleods Daughters, 6th RP Industries. Very impressive on the way the boats were handled. Keep it up.

Rp Industries won the Outstanding Flp Award for throwing his co-pilot out on the first race/ first

lap and also flipping his boat going back to the boat ramp after a day of racing.... Congratulations...

It was great to see alot of supporters come down to watch for the day as the conditions were poor.

Thanks to the Girls for scoring and keeping count of the boats for the day. Thanks to Scotty,

Darren, Tony, Nemo {RD}, and John for slected officials for the day and running a good show. It was

great alot of members stayed behind for the BBQ and the results to be read out. Hope its Sunny

weather next race day and see you all there.

2008 Brisbane Coast Skirmish Day

2nd March 2008 Skirmish

This is the fox’s daughter signing in, just thought I would put my story across on our skirmish expedition…. Well after arriving,  we had an orientation and were briefed on the different packs that were available. So from the start you could tell who wanted to play Rambo. An you guessed it, that’s the exact pack that the fox got. Scott Macleod, who wanted fox’s blood, decided to get the upgrade as he thought it would be an advantage.

Denis another one who also wanted a bit of the silver fox, was so eager he left for skirmish at 5.00am. He must have wanted to set some traps and test out his “fast” shoes before anyone else got there..… After a 2 ½ hr drive, running out of fuel, 100m pushing his ute to the servo, $50 fuel bill later Denis arrived.  You could feel the tension in the air, everyone was excited and rearing to go. Trent and Jonesy were still recovering from the night before, so the only tension they had was a couple of tension headaches. So yes of course you know who was gonna take advantage of that…yours truly.

The first obstacle was actually, getting into our cameos… This was a lot harder than we thought.. Scotty who was trying to be one with nature decided to duck tape some small bushes with berries on his arms, and feet for extra camouflage… He was the first one to be called a tossa by the instructor, definitely would not be the last.

The group then got halved and to my approval my brother and I were on opposite team…. It’s on!!!! Brett and Tom, my offsiders from work, were well and ready to woop some ass!!

Game 1-2 highlights – Troy was the stand out for the first game, running through the enemy’s territory to secure the red flag. And win the game for the black team. There was more to come with the 2nd game as the red team had the territorial height advantage, and came down heavy on the black team with Scott Macleod punishing them with 500 paintballs.

Game 3- 4 highlights – After releasing some tension in the bush AGB Trent. He was uplifted by some serious downloading, I hope there is no environmental damage that has come out of these deposits! Lol

The silver fox and I combined powers and were unstoppable securing the red flag on the barrel. But be warned, there was a lesson to learn… when someone yells “go for it, I’ll cover you”. I will think twice before running into the line of fire with 20 paintballs being shot at you. Please refer to attached photos!

In game 4 Jonesy thought he would power up and go for cannon that was positioned on his side, the silver fox aka sniper… had him pinned for the rest of the game. After he had finished with Jonesy he and his cannon, were like an orange popsicle.

As the fox and I were walking to the next game I told him “my guns not firing dad,” after a quick look at it, he replied “its full of mud, you idiot!” note to self … while army crawling, lift your gun off the ground.. No wonder I couldn’t shoot after that. Scott Macleod, another 5-6 hundred paintballs… with no evidence of targets hit.

Game 5-6 highlights – The aim of this particular game was to put the bomb in each team’s targeted area. After getting into our positions, this game became everyman for himself and there were paintballs flying everywhere. No bombs went anywhere near there targets.

Game 7-8 highlights – This was the decider! Close contact, thick scrub and plenty of sniper action. King Sniper award goes to Marty Clark, blind siding the silver fox/rambo slamming 15 shots into the side of his head… And trust me there is evidence there. Please refer to pic attached.

Being the last game and the only female playing I had to take charge… having learned to hold my gun up while army crawling I decided to put it into action and go after my brother… “Surrender!!!!! “, I yelled at him, after he asked troy who the F#*k was shooting at him. “you surrender!!” he replied.. peow peow!!!   “Ahh, you shot me in the frickin head” I said… after sitting still and getting my vision back it was on.  I shot about 30 paintball straight at his head.. Definite contact was about 5 welts in his head, that was now painted a nice shade of orange… Score was even!!

After a nice cold beer, an average feed and a debrief we all made tracks and are ready for our next adventure.
