Great to see Brisbane Coast dominating the final round of the Queensland Thundercat Racing Championships. Hopefully next year the boys will compete in all of the rounds! Well done to everyone who raced, the numerous volunteers (getting your names shortly), Neptune Marine for supplying a safety boat. We simply cannot hold events such as this without the help of volunteers. If you would like to be part of this sport either socialy, administration or being a race official, simply give Neptune Marine a call on (07) 3290-6370 or e-mail

Bribie Island Social Trip
It was a cool and semi overcast morning. The boat ramp was busy, that is for the ones that went to the right ramp, but we still managed to get away reasonalby early.
We decided to go up the inside of Bribie to Caloundra while the tide was up.
Keiran had a nice helmet cam running and video from that will be up soon.
We stopped a few times and re-grouped, had a breather then set off again towards Caloundra.
Note: The seaway at Caloundra has a 6knot speed limit. I did not see the sign 200m away and was politley told by a 40foot Police boat to slow down...
Once past the bar we banged and crashed thru some choppy water until getting some good speed along the beach front of Bribie Island. The pack started to thin out into a long stream with some offshore and some in the shallows.
Once again we pulled up on the beach and had a break and a chat. Shared some boat setup tips and generaly talked shit.
Changed fuel tanks over and off we went. Had a little race against Keiran offshore until both co-pilots were rag-dolling then all of a sudden Barbados comes head on towards the pack. Not sure what he was doing going anti-clockwise around the island.
Last segment of the trip was rounding the south end in rather smooth water and then back to the Spinaker Sound boat ramp.
Some of the boys went for some food/drink while others got the GPS out and tested some props and setups.
I had a great time meeting some new faces and I think the trip around Bribie was a good starting point for social trips. Especialy when soon we will attack North Stradbroke and Moreton Island. |

Thundercats and Jet Skis battling it out. 17th and 18th March were the National Flatwater Titles and 24th March was the World Surf Moto with the crowds to complement the quality of the competition. Saturday and Sunday BCTB assisted with safety boats and demo races on both days. Thanks to the boats and crews that raced and officiated over those two days. Thanks Warwick and Adrian from the Jam boat, Scott and Tony from the Floating on Air boat. Marty and Trevor from Highstyle Roofing in the Neptune Marine Boat, put the foot down and showed they will be a force to be reckoned with, Paddy and Warren in Pumped Up and Good to Go (sorry to hear the bad news with the Desperate and Dateless Ball), Trent and Adam enjoying the competition and friendly atmosphere in the new branch, Joe and Luke providing the reason why people are starting to comeback to the sport – No. 1 in support and attitude. Finally, Grant and Greg from Goodline Racing returning to the sport after a lengthy absence. Special thanks must go to Marty and Nathan who gave up a days work and went down on the Friday to help set up the course and Nathan who RD’d over the two days. Thanks also to the four boats for their apologies. Saturday 24th March Beautiful weather, 50 jetskis, 9 thundercats. Two races and some interesting results. Neptune Marine sponsored boat, Ducks Nuts, received the chequered flag and carried on their 2006 National Championship form, thanks Anthony and Darren. Nathan and Allen (Raw Energy) showing the form that gave him 2nd in the State Titles in 2006, Joe and Luke, Mike and Ben (Bayside Signs), Nick and Colin (Tony’s Tree Care), Marty and Tony (Neptune Marine), Grant and Greg Goodline Racing, Chris and Adam. Thanks to the five boats that extended their apologies. Special thanks must go to Nathan who started the day at 6.30am on Saturday morning to set the course and was the last guy off the beach at the end of the day and also for running the RD and Safety boat all day. Thanks also to Dallas and Amy for their assistance over the two weekends. Don’t forget the social run around Bribie Island on Sunday, 15th April – 8.00am start at Spinnaker Sound ramp – refer map. Thomas could you please insert a map(coming). Let’s go for a dozen boats this time! Photo Gallery updated! DVD’s and photos on the way! |

The Thundercat Racing Club of Australia held a meeting over the last few weeks and the meeting minutes can be found by clicking the read more button. Simply, Brisbane now has 2 engine measurers and the costs structure for having your engine sealed is now complete.
Looks like I read the minutes wrong, as you can see, Brisbane has 1 measurer for now. Jon at Neptune Marine, Springwood. This is great news for the sport and demonstrates how the Brisbane Coast club has tremendous support not only from it's members but from the Australian Thundercat committee. Within our first few months we have secured sponsorship deals, race dates, engine sealing, support from local marine business and attracted a great bunch of people who are willing to help out and socialise. Keep up the good work guys, we are heading in the right direction! |
