Maroochydore Surf Cross – 18 February 2007 New function – new conditions.
First surf cross of the year was held at Maroochydore, 5 minutes from Novotel Twin Waters Resort. Weather was overcast, intermittent rain, 25-30 knot on-shore winds, gnarly 5 - 6 ft surf. Thanks to the boats, friends and club members who turned up to an action filled day: Highstyle Roofing – 1st surf cross ever – well done! Tony’s Tree Lopping Hydraulink Inflatable Boat Services Aquarius Raw Energy Neptune Marine for supplying the Start and Safety Boat (a tough way to spend a day). The day’s racing tested the skill of all pilots and co-pilots concerned. The best flip of the day goes to Raw Energy, nice one Allan!. Racing was very competitive with Hydraulink coming out on top. Might be a surprise package this year with Inflatable Boats a close second and Tony’s Tree Lopping third. Thanks also to the officials on the day, Nathan Berry – Race Director, John Miller and Tony Dummer – Scrutineering, Scott Kerrisk and Paddy Knight for manning the start and safety boat all day. Thanks also must go to Dan Fox and the Jet Ski boys and girls for their hospitality and entertaining racing that included spectacular spills and thrills. Points for the day: Hydraulink: 266 Inflatable Boat Centre: 228 Tony’s Tree Lopping: 220 Neptune Marine – High Styleroofing: 100 Aquarius: 72 Raw Energy: 40 The Gallery has been updated with latest pics from the day.
