The first round of the National Titles has just past with outstanding

results from the Brisbane Club. The National Titles were held at

Laurieton- Port Macquarie. The first day was surf X and the second

day was a grueling 80km long haul.

The Qld boys traveled in a convoyed down the coast into enemy

waters on the Friday. The first race began at 10am Saturday

morning. The surf was one of the flattest days we have had for

a national round. This was then a fast race event. The sand

banks made things challenging as the tide kept on dropping,

the turn boys seemed to always be in no water. This took its toll

on some of the boats as dredging a sand bank half way through

a race was a frustrating occurrence. It was full throttle, adrenalin

was pumping and it was flat out racing the entire day, with each

boat trying to get every last bit of speed possible to get out in front.

Bliss Racing managed to flip the boat twice during the day.

Once solo before the racing had started and during a race, heading

out through the surf; cork screwing off the wave. The Outstanding

Flip Award was presented that afternoon. Ha ha. {Golden

flipper} Congratulations to Thundercats sales {Sydney Club} for winning

the day overall, Fat Cat 2nd {Brisbane Club} and Cockle Bay

wharf 3rd { Sydney club}. Brisbane Coast Thundercats dominated

the long haul event on the Sunday. The winds were off shore blowing

20-25knts. It was very hard going as it was just as hard going down

with the swell and chop for 20km as it was going back into it to complete 1st lap of a 2 lap race. Brisbane pulled in 1st Rampage 2nd Fat Cat

and 3rd Tony’s Total Tree Care. WELL DONE. The first round of the

nationals was a great success with Fat Cat in1st position overall after

the first 2 rounds of the national titles. The next 2 rounds will be on our

home turf at Kingscliff on the 7th and 8th of June. So don’t miss out and

support your local teams. Check the
